About Me

Hi, I’m Penelope—the woman behind the writing and watercolors.

For most of my life, I have been listening closely to the experiences that shape us: love and loss, God, childhood and belonging, the ways we leave ourselves behind, and the slow work of finding our way home.

My writing began in earnest many years ago while I was living completely off the grid in a tipi. I wanted to capture the beauty of living simply, with the intimacy of being close to the earth, the clarity that can come when so much of the unnecessary falls away, and the richness of living differently.

I am a writer, watercolor artist, and founder of Angel Resource Connection, where I have spent the last decade serving people experiencing homelessness and their beloved animals.

At the beginning of 2025, my husband, Daniel, died after living with cancer for twelve years and after thirty-four years of marriage.

In the year and a half that followed, I wrote more than 600,000 words across more than 225 chapters. Much of that writing began in grief, but as I kept writing, I found myself returning to the questions and experiences that have shaped my entire life, including self-friendship, humanity, faith, service, belonging, love, and the quiet mysteries that live between heaven and earth.

Before long, I was writing across many parts of the human experience.

LightWoven grew from that body of work and from the watercolors that emerged beside it.

Some of these writings will eventually become books. Other pieces will remain here for the woman who may recognize something of her own life within them.

I don’t believe every painful experience needs to be solved or turned into a lesson. Sometimes we simply need truthful words, a quiet place to sit, and the comfort of knowing we are not the only ones who have felt this way.
